Cutting Pie Pow
This problem revolved around finding patterns and finding formulas. What this Pow told us to do is make circles and see how many pieces you can create with only a certain amount of cuts.
Then mu teacher and the paper explained that we had to find a pattern and that was going to help us the most because our task was to make as many pieces as we could with only a certine amount of cuts. Then I found a pattern on the table they had given as a starter, what I noticed was that when you added the 3 of cuts by the next maximum number of cuts you would get you're answer. For example I would have to add 11 (witch is the Maximum number of pieces for 4 ) by 5 and that would get me my maximum number of pieces for 5. I couldn't come up with a formula but I think my grade should be at least an A because I worked very hard on this pow and it really did make me think very well, it helped on getting better on finding different patterns and it taught me that just by finding a few patterns it really does help a lot it gets you a step closer to the answer. I also think that I deserve an at least an A because I was able to figure out and accomplish the prove that the pattern does work. The habits of a mathematician was visualizing and look for patterns. I used visualizing because we had to do a lot of visualizing with the circles and see where you where going to place the cut in order to get a lot more pieces, and well the whole point of this pow was to find patterns so that's another habit I did when you find a pattern that gets you a step closer to figuring the answer.
