POW #1
For this project we had to find different ways to use the numbers 1-2-3-4 in different expressions. You could use exponents, multiplication and any other expression you can think of but it had to be only the numbers 1-2-3-4. We had to use these number and go from 1-25.
My process for this pow was very simple. I started of with simple expressions like adding and subtracting. Then I went on from combing different numbers that still used 1234. The I went on from exponents and using parenthesis. I kept using this process until I got to 25 witch was the goal to find different expressions from 1-25.
Examples:
1:
2: 4-3-2-1
4: 3^2 -4-1
10: 3+4+2+1
I think I did really good on this Pow because, I really did understand it and it was very simple for me. I like how it challenged me to think and find ways to make different patterns. I also really liked how it involved how to use different expressions. I got really confused on some parts and it made me think I wasn't going to be able to get all the way to 25 but at the end it was easier than I expected. The habit of a mathematician I used was, experiment and conjecture. In this POW you really did have to do a lot of experimenting with the numbers and the different expressions you had to use. Some of them didn't work at all or some just needed a little more thinking involved in it. Overall I thought this POW was a great way to warm up you're brain and make you think real hard in how to use only four number and the different possibilities to use these numbers in different expressions.
