Partner's Name : Natasha
Lab Title: Save Fred
Pre-Lab Questions
1.) why is it important in science to follow a an agreed- upon procedure
I think it's important to agree on a procedure because if u kelp on disagreeing them you will never get the work done and this can affect the experiment and that shows that you won't be able to work with other people
2.) Why is important to document you're procedure and any errors or difference?
I think that it is important to document you're procedure and error because you can reflect and look back at the mistakes you made or even for notes you can get information from this.
3.) Why do we normally not have food in chemistry
We normally don't eat food in chemistry class because we use different types of harmful chemicals and it can affect us and make us very sick some of them can even kill us.
Purpose: the purpose of this lab was to save Fred but only using certain tools and if it fell off the life boat we had to start all over, another purpose of this lab was to learn how to work with one another and how one another thinks when it comes to problems like this, we had to use a lot of team work and it was a great way to know new people and start talking to our new classmates.
Procedure: The procedure for this lab was very easy in the beginning, the first thing we did was though how we were going to take him out so what my lab partner Natasha did was lift up the cup with the paper clips witch were the only tools we were able to use, then while she was lifting it up I took out the life preserver and then I lift up the life preserver and we gently put inside Fred
Data and observation:
What we had to do was find the mass and the length of Fred
Mass 7.70 g
Length 8cm
Then we had to find the circonfrice of the boat by us d * pie, we also had to find the volume of the boat but we looked underneath the cup and we found our answer.
Cir= 8*3.14
= 26.69
Volume of the boat
= 266mL
Then we had to do another calculation on the life preserver
How much it weighed and the diameter
Lp= 75 grams
Diameter= 35mm
Error analyses: Fred didn't die
Post lab questions
1.) Was one of you more of a leader, and the other followed, or did you share the responsibility for ideas equally? Why did it work that way
I think we both shared the responsibilities but when it came to the calculations Natasha did most of it but she would always explain to me how it worked and how the equations matched each problem or how you use this equation for what you're trying to solve. I really liked working with her because we worked together and we accomplished what was asked and I really enjoyed working with her because she wasn't only my partner but she was also kind of my teacher.
2.) what areas of expertise can you bring to a project?
I'm good at contributing to my ideas
3.) what do you feel might struggle in chemistry?
I think I will have trouble memorizing formulas and measuring the chemicals
